Theoretically, acupuncturist shall be able to treat all kinds of pains, diseases, and problems of emotion, psychology, intelligence, and etc. at once. Questions of acupuncturists posted on a Facebook group will be posted here. When you see these questions, which an acupuncturist asks other acupuncturists questions, you will have a few questions yourself. - Are these acupuncturists? Seriously?
- What would happen to their patients?
- How could they make a living?
- People say that there is no stupid question but... Aren't they shameful?
- What have their teachers taught?
Here you go.

Saw a patient today for the second time for sciatic that had been going on for over 4 months. After the first treatment he claims he didn't feel any change, however he did go to the gym, he went to work and has been able to do stuff he hasn't been doing. After I treated him today, he informed me that he wouldn't be coming back because acupuncture didn't work and he was going to do dry needling instead because I don't needle deep enough. I'm standing there thinking, I just shoved several 3 and 5 inch needles into your tiny hinny -- How much deeper do you think they go???
We had a conversation but he decided he didn't know enough about it but had heard good things about dry needling so that was his plan.
Arghhhhhhh!!!

Just received a call from a prospective patient who is in town for two months for business and is seeking acupuncture to treat priapism (prolonged erection) as the result of an inguinal hernia surgery that took place more than 20 years ago. He has been receiving regular acupuncture treatments since that surgery and it has helped improve the blood circulation in the local area. He has some numbness, nerve damage and scar tissue at the incision site.
He also mentioned that he can get erections during treatment and will need to massage himself (with or without the assistance of a medical professional) to relieve the build up of the blood flow caused by the priapism. I have already expressed that I understood the situation but would not be comfortable assisting in the massage. He was totally fine with being left in the room alone to take care of that, if the situation came up.
Has anyone had any experience treating Priapism? Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'd love some input on this case. I've seen her 4 times. Female age 50. laundry list of symptoms: very overweight, (I almost don't have needles long enough), eats like crap and admits it (we're addressing this; dietary therapy is a focus of mine). Always phlegmy, worse in damp cold. Has asthma. Has noticed difficulty in swallowing food and capsules in past few years but not plum pit qi like pattern. Always thirsty, dry mouth and eyes. Drinks a lot, pees a lot, more than normal. BM reported as normal except for the 2 incidences of diarrhea she had when I first started working with her. Pretty bad insomnia - when lies down at night, heart racing, burning feet and hot flashes in upper body. Hair is falling out. Takes spirinolactone to prevent this - it's a diuretic but prevents her from going bald. She has osteoarthritis of the knee, had double knee surgery last year, and chronic pain in SI joint. So she takes pain killers like OxyContin. Periods shifting - erratic, spotting but had normal period 3 weeks into treatment. Has an oestrogen patch which she says helps, and regularly takes Ambien which she says she would prefer not to take. Recently recognized and is addressing sexual abuse when young after father died last year and is working with appropriate professionals. She has seen a naturopath often for the last 2 years who is all over her blood work and possible western medical syndromes. Naturopath also uses Psy-K to address emotional issues. She now thinks her insomnia is related to hyper vigilance but She's in good hands out side of my scope of practice. The naturopath referred her to me so we are in contact. Tongue: significantly deep crack running 2/3 of tongue, centered between root and tip. Patient says it's always been there. Center is dry and lacks coat, edges are scalloped and moist. Pulse: Rapid; slippery in cun both sides, though LH cun was becoming more soft on last visit. RH guan still very slippery. Guan - soft and weak on left, deep and a little weak on right. Chi - very weak and deep both sides, could say faint. RH chi was better last visit. I'm first having her take herbs to resolve excess phlegm and damp, with the aim of moving to harmonizing Shaoyang before tonifying her deficiencies. I've counseled her that these steps take time. Let me know of any thoughts you have that could help me help her as she seems ready to do the work. The burning feet at night were actually her chief complaint and I didn't know how to differentiate this in terms of her pattern so I'd love insight on this symptom. I needled KD1 twice and after last session they were gone and she was so happy she high fived me. But I know there is so much more that needs to be done...

I have a healthy happy 16 year old male who has random pain in his ankles and feet. I'm their last hope. He has quit basketball, and if I can't help will quit football. Five E dx is Metal. I have seen him 2x. The first time all left pulses were normal, right was low with 11/12 slippery. After giving up dairy for a week, all Pulses were good excepting low 9/10. I've not heard of wind in the feet before. Has anyone seen this? Any ideas? Thank you!

I read some of these & have to question if these people actually are trained acupuncturists? I remember one last year of a guy asking what was the best pulse taking course to go on. When I questioned it I got lots of negative replies but my reason was why would an acupuncturist need to learn pulse taking as we should all have been taught this to get qualified. Think there is a lot of people putting letters after their names but have very poor knowledge & training

I know they are. I don't think there are many acupuncturists and teachers teaching acupuncturists really know how to do pulse taking accurately. Have you seen any threads or posts here I was describing pulse? Pulse taking has to be used when Q&A does not give you the basis of diagnosis and needs to be discarded if there are conflicts between a patient's complain and pulse. Starting diagnosis from tongue and/or pulse taking needs to be avoided.

Will be Treating a patient whom has cancer pain at hospital got permission from dr and nurse. This is not my specialty anything specific I should avoid. Platelets & WBC are stable. Case: colon cancer spread to lung & liver ...
Wife is desperate she heard of a friend who claims Acupuncture helped them shrink tumor and reduce pain.
The other acupuncture posted a reply. if you haven't got experience in this area probably best to refer to someone who does.
My reply to it is... You have a patient came in with a disease you have never treated and you would have to let them go away telling them you don't have experience. Funny. How could you possibly even think of starting your business?

Anyone have luck treating psoriasis (along with Peripheral Vascular Disease) with either herbs or acupuncture. Patient is in his 80's and eats healthy, meditates, exercises but has had it a long time. His tongue is red, deep center crack with small cracks coming off of it and no coat. I get his feet to warm up during treatments and feel like maybe the circulation will improve with time but the psoriasis doesn't change and some weeks looks worse.

I just got a call from a potential patient's daughter. The mother had a stroke a few months ago (Oct). I need to call her back, but in all honesty, I have zero experience with strokes. I'm fairly confident with my skills in general, but when I hear "stroke" I think, "scalp" which is something that I don't do much. What are your thoughts on post-stroke acu, how effective can I be without knowing scalp well, should I refer out? The daughter said she's been having a hard time getting her mom to consider acu and it's a huge boon that I'm so close, so I bear that in mind too.

I have a very sick, weak 9 month old post vaccinations. Lots of vomiting, which has subsided, yesterday and today diarrhea. She is still taking fluids and peeing regularly but she is so tired and weak. What can I do to prevent this kind of reaction in the future? My wife took her in and let them give her the flu shot, which won't happen again but is this what we can expect with each vaccination? We got her at 8 months so we've never dealt with this before. Thanks in advance

Sorry to ask but it's Sunday and I want to avoid the ER. Last week my 5 yr old had a fever and even though I don't usually medicate for it, I did once. She ended up being fine except for a very deep chesty cough that would surface at night. I did gentle tui on her back to break it up and diffused a little EO, and last night it finally seemed to break up. The cough seemed more fluid than before, ready to cough up. But this morning she has an earache. Any magic points I can do to help? Back story to the illness, she was hospitalized 2 1/2 wks ago for a kidney infection and finished a course of antibiotics a week ago. She's very skittish about tx, but she's in a lot of pain. Thanks in advance.

Hi friends! I have been practicing since November of 2014, and have already been sick twice! Mind you I also have a germy lil 7 year old at home. Self care is definitely a high priority for me; I get plenty of sleep & exercise, support myself with nourishing foods & teas, and practice breathwork daily. Was hoping you all could share your "best of" self care tips for staying healthy and balanced during these especially contagious winter months. Thank you thank you

Hi folks, a case question:
28 year old healthy female with healthy lifestyle (whole foods diet, little grain, no gluten, exercise/yoga) but a stressful job. CC is acne. Breakouts are not extreme, but are bothersome to the client, and are worse with stress. Breakouts appear variously on chest, back, forehead, and sideburn/jawline. Blemishes are very small, dark brownish purple (patient is African American), only slightly raised. They typically do not come to a head, and there is no exudate; if she squeezes, exudate is hard, formed, white, and minimal.
Concurrent issues are acid reflux high in the esophagus, a history of severe dysmenorrhea (and she's therefore on birth control which does not produce a period), and occasional sticky stool & incomplete sensation, also worse with stress.
Tongue is small and pale pink with a white coat, with dark pigmented spots on either edge (I was taught in school that this is a normal pigmentation of the tongue that can occur in people of African descent, although I'm not sure I quite buy that it does not indicate blood stagnation); pulse is thin, especially on the left.
We have been working together almost weekly for about 6 months. I have been treating her for overactive liver, blood stagnation, and blood deficiency primarily. Occasionally I clear some heat, particularly from the yangming. Her stress is greatly relieved, she's gone off BCP and has begun to have regular and relatively pain-free periods (with some clots); acid reflux is greatly improved and only flares up occasionally. Sticky stool is a newer development.
When she comes weekly, breakouts are kept to a minimum; and overall, her breakouts are less severe than they were when we started work together. However, if we miss even one week, she definitely has a breakout. Also, I feel like I'm playing whack-a-mole with these breakouts. . . if she has them on her face and I treat heat in the yangming, then they pop up on the chest and back. I'm obviously not getting to the root here!
Herbally, currently she's on Xiao Yao Wan (golden flower Free & Easy Wanderer) for about 2 mos and Jane Lyttleton's Jade Moon Flow just around her period.
I'm feeling stuck with getting to the root of this acne. Any insight / help will be greatly appreciated.
