An acupuncturist's question on a Facebook group, Acupuncturists on Facebook
I'd appreciate your opinion on this one. 9 year old boy, out of school for 8 weeks due to a dry spasmodic cough that is worse at night but happens also during the day. Recently coughing has led to retching. Sleeps okay after night time thirst and a coughing fit. Wakes up coughing after a full nights sleep. Intake concluded that he has stomach yin deficiency and qi/blood deficiency, lung and st qi rebellion. Family has done an exhaustive number of tests on him, nothing conclusive. Saw the dad today, treatment and tea made boy feel better. I've heard that children's digestion matures slowly. Just wondering, could this be an extreme case of a child with incomplete digestive maturation? And is it possible that a once healthy vibrant soccer-playing boy could fall ill due to this?
Children usually have amazingly better self-healing power. You don't even have to use full Ascetic Saahm's formula. Subdue LU10, ST41 and LR2.
