A question from an acupuncturist in a Facebook group, Acupuncturists on Facebook.
I have developed a sudden and severe reactive airway dysfunction to moxa, with wheezing, coughing and a "heavy" chest.
Moxa has been an integral part of my practice and this came out of the blue.
I have no history of asthma or allergies.
Has anyone experienced this and is it permanent?
I went to a pulmonologist and he had no answers except "don't do it anymore."

No history of asthma or allergies does not necessarily means lungs are healthy.
Moxa is to foster a point.
When ancient oriental experimental theory (including Chinese medicine) is used for treating nowadays' health problems, it is not supposed to work.
As a matter of fact, old approaches work against most of current health problems.
It looks like wrong point was fostered based on experimental theory and it has harmed lung.
